Parking for Terschelling and Vlieland

Harlingen is the perfect starting point for a (day) visit to the Wadden Islands of Terschelling and Vlieland. Here you will find all parking information, so you can book a parking space before your crossing to one of the two Wadden Islands. Our long-term car parks are also suitable for a visit to Harlingen. The long-term car parks are within walking distance of the historic city centre and harbours. When you reserve and pay for your parking space online, the barriers open automatically when you arrive.

Are you going to Terschelling or Vlieland soon? The best place to park your car is in the long-term car parks on the Harlingerstraatweg. These parking facilities are open daily from 7:00 am to 8:30 pm. If an extra boat from Rederij Doeksen arrives after closing time, we will be open until half an hour after the arrival of the last ferry. The rate for a pre-booked parking space is €7.50 per calendar day, while the rate for non-reserved parking spaces is €8.50 per calendar day. You can also make free use of the shuttle bus from these car parks. The shuttle bus runs between the long-term car parks and the Waddenpromenade. The ferries of Rederij Doeksen depart from here. The Waddenpromenade is only a few minutes' walk from the historic centre of Harlingen.

If you reserve and pay for a parking space in advance (digitally), the barriers will automatically open for you when you arrive. You won’t have to worry about parking.

Please note: cash payment is not possible, and reservations can only be made for motor vehicles with a maximum length of 5 metres. If you want to park a trailer or campervan, please report to our parking manager in advance. We look forward to seeing you.

Where is the best place to park?

If you are travelling to Terschelling or Vlieland soon, it is best to park your car in the long-term car parks P1/P2/P3 (also known as 'Tsjerk Hides') on Harlingerstraatweg. Will you be sailing with the Bruine Vloot soon? The best place to park your car is at Westerzeedijk. If you are travelling to Harlingen to visit our port city, the best place to park your car is in the Waddenpromenade multi-storey car park or at one of our short-term parking locations.

Can I book in advance?

Pre-booking is recommended for island parking. Please book online so that you are assured of a parking space for your car. Your booking is based on your registration number, so all you will need to do is park your car. Have you not made a reservation or are you unable to make a reservation? Don't worry, there is always plenty of parking. Have you decided to stay a little longer on the islands or in Harlingen? Simply pay the difference when you leave. Book your parking space online here. Please note: parking in the car park for passengers of the Bruine Vloot is only possible with a reservation in advance. Pre-booking for parking in the parkin garage Waddenpromenade is not available.

What is the best way to get to the parking locations in Harlingen?

If you are travelling to Harlingen for a visit to Terschelling or Vlieland, you will be directed to our parking facilities by road signs. A shuttle bus runs from these facilities, taking you to the Waddenpromenade where the ferries of Rederij Doeksen depart. Please leave well in advance; we advise you to arrive in Harlingen at least one hour before departure for the islands. This way you won’t need to worry about parking, and you will have a relaxed start to your holiday. More about travelling to Harlingen can be found on the page about the route to the locations.

How often does the shuttle bus leave from the long-term car parks?

The timetable for our free shuttle bus is tailored to the sailing schedule of Rederij Doeksen. We will make sure you are dropped off at the Waddenpromenade on time. Here you can board the ferry of Rederij Doeksen. The shuttle bus uses HVO100 fuel. This diesel variant is composed of vegetable oils, waste, residual oils, and fats. This reduces the greenhouse gas emissions (CO2e) of the fuel by up to 90% compared to regular fossil diesel.

What are the opening times of the parking locations?

The long-term parking P1/P2/P3, the Waddenpromenade multi-storey car park and the Bruine Vloot parking on Westerzeedijk are open daily from 7:00 am to 8:30 pm. Entry and exit is only possible between these times. On Fridays, the parking lot for the 'Bruine Vloot' is open until 10:00 PM (April to September). If there are changes in the sailing schedule of Rederij Doeksen, we will adjust the opening hours of the parking facilities P1/P2/P3 accordingly.

Can I also purchase a subscription?

Can I charge my electric car?

Yes, you can. There are 2 charging points in the Waddenpromenade multi-storey car park. On the long-term parking lot P2, there are currently 52 charging points available.

Are there parking spaces for the disabled?

Yes, there are eight disabled parking spaces at P1 and two disabled parking spaces at P2.

Can I park my bicycle somewhere?

The best place to park your bicycle is in the Waddenpromenade multi-storey car park. There is a covered bicycle shed which is open during the day and freely accessible.

What are the rates for parking buses, motorcycles, and cars with trailers?

For parking buses and coaches, the rate is €25.50 per calendar day. Motorcycles are charged at a rate of €4.25 per calendar day. Parking cars with trailers, whose length is 5.50 meters or more, costs €17.00 per calendar day.
